One of the most handy accessories any turner can have is a set of calipers whether for measuring internally or externally. They are particularly useful for replicating dimensions or ensuring consistent wall thickness in a hollow vessel.

These Robert Sorby calipers come in a variety of shapes and sizes to cater for most needs. The most recent addition is vessel calipers which are designed for those turning long thin vases through a narrow opening where they are working blind. Being double-ended they give easy and reliable dimensions to ensure consistency of wall thickness. These are available in 2.1/2", 52 and 10".
