Description
Home woodworkers, professionals and large furniture manufacturers have all found a large number of uses for these FOAM SANDING BLOCKS and PADS. It appears that nothing is better for final sanding of simple contours and profiles - this seems to be the consensus anyway. Now with the variety of kits and grits available, you can't go wrong. There will certainly be something to fit that certain need in your shop.
As with "regular" sandpaper, subtle difference in the manufacturing processes make a huge difference in the overall performance of the product.
Our FOAM SANDING BLOCKS are much different than those offered in some of the other catalogs. Our blocks are "overcoated", this means after the grits are applied, an extra coat of resin is applied so the grits stay on the block longer, which in turn means much longer life from the block. This thicker "BLOCK" works quite well on flat surfaces where you might be concerned about gouging the workpiece, as well as concave or convex surfaces and around most larger curved parts. So, when you need that special soft touch on a flat surface, need to sand into severe profiles or need to complete a project tht is curved or shaped in some way, be sure you have some of each of these BLOCKS and PADS on hand - you won't be disappointed. In fact, you'll be glad you've got them!
While using these BLOCKS, remember that if you keep them "clean" they will last longer. So, occasionally bang the block on your hand or your workbench and knock the wood particles out. If you keep this up, you'll think these things never wear out. If it gets to the point where you think the block is clogged beyond further use, head to the sink and wash it out. It'll be almost like new again! Now when these things finally do wear out, don't throw them away. They make great sheet sanding pads. Simply tear a sandpaper sheet to the proper size, wrap it around the foam and you're back in business.
These BLOCKS measure 4" long by 3" wide by 1-1/4" thick and are coated with Aluminum Oxide abrasive.
