This tool is ideal for shaping the preliminary rounded profile of spindle stock. It features a stained black ash handle approximately 10 inches long, which is about 16.5 inches long.

Made from Sheffield M2 High-Speed Steel, which has been cryogenically treated to improve wear resistance by 3X while maintaining the superior sharpness properties of M2 steel. Cryo-treating cutting tools modify the crystalline structure of key metal components. This transformation enhances the metal's wear resistance, resulting in longer tool life, better edge retention, and an improved feel, particularly for plane blades. This technology has been applied to select Crown Turning Tools, significantly enhancing their performance in turning tasks.
